The Yellow Bed
This is my favorite piece in the entire collection. The bed frame and chair are signed “N. Belt ’83.” This bed was purchased at a miniature show or shop, back before there was online shopping. The portrait is Abigail Adams by Gilbert Stuart. The house is wired for electric circa 1990. I haven’t hidden the wires because I plan to change them to the new wire-free LEDs at some point.
The coverlet is embroidered matelasse, and the quilt at the foot of the bed feels like silk. In Colonial America, canopies and curtains served to conserve heat at night. The bed and chair are hallmarked “N. Belt.”
My mother did all the exterior and interior trim work on this dollhouse herself. She also made much of the furniture. but purchased certain pieces, like the yellow bed and most of the dolls.

The bed & room are exquisite! This belongs in a book. I can see why it’s your favorite!
Feel free to use the yellow bed in one of your books!
