Chinese Immigrants in Gilded Age San Francisco.
My mother made immigrant apartments for three different ethnic groups: Irish, Swedish, and Chinese families, in one apartment building. In the harsh reality of the Gilded Age, these different ethnic groups lived in three different neighborhoods. Chinatown in San Francisco housed the oldest and largest group of Chinese immigrants in North America. The history of Chinatown is complex, and I don’t feel qualified to write on it, nor could I do it justice in one blog post
