My mother’s miniature replica of the Carl Larsson house was popular, so I am sharing her miniature French Chateau set in 1810. She bought simple shells for her dollhouses, many from a shop called Ah Miniatures! in Minneapolis, and spent her time and money on the interiors. She did the trim work and decorating herself, including building furniture, with a tiny power band saw. Most of the dolls and some of the furniture were purchased at miniature shows. Her records are not detailed, but if I see a specific hallmark on an item, I will mention it.
She is too old to work on miniatures now, but was tickled by the internet traffic from around the world to view her Carl Larsson house. I will share two posts per day of the house I consider her best work until I run out of things to photograph. The chateau was on display in several small art galleries in the past. She has degrees in fine art and design from Stanford and Parsons, evident in the quality of the interiors. Happy spring in early France!
