The Yellow Bed. This is my favorite piece in the entire collection. The bed frame is signed “N. Belt ’83.” This bed was purchased at a miniature show or shop, back before there was online shopping.

The coverlet is embroidered matelasse, and the quilt at the foot of the bed feels like silk. In Colonial America, canopies and curtains served to conserve heat at night.

My mother did all the exterior and interior trim work on this dollhouse herself. She also made much of the furniture. but purchased certain pieces, like the yellow bed and most of the dolls.
