Ruth Pollack miniature painted wall cabinet, blue
Blue rosemaled chairs by Cindy Maloy

 Swedish Painted Furniture

The rosemaled chairs are by Cindy Malone. Rosemaling is an art form that originated in Norway but had moved to Sweden by Carl Larsson’s time.

The blue wall cabinet is by Ruth Pollock. It is very lightweight and attached to the wall with only wax. The date painted on the cabinet is 1835. I found a note from my mother about her Ruth Pollock furniture that reads as follows:

Sept. 2014

These are my favorite pieces. Ruth Pollock painted them and her husband made them. She lives in Spain. She is very well respected in Europe/England and USA. I took a class from her and painted a yellow cabinet on the wall in the colonial house and a chimney in the second bedroom. She comes to the big miniature show in Chicago to teach classes along with many other artisans. I made several things at these shows—learned how to dress new dolls.

My mother’s other Ruth Pollock painted furniture pieces reside in an American colonial house and can be found in this post: painted motifs.
