6 inch red haired doll with black and white check suit standing next to easel

Carl’s studio is an annex off the back of the house. The picture at the right was the original studio on display at the American Swedish Institute over twenty years ago. Visitors caught only a glimpse of Carl’s easel through the open doorway at the back of his bedroom. The picture on the left is my reinterpretation of his studio. I found the high-back Cindy Malone chair in my mother’s collection, and it resembles Carl’s studio chair as depicted in his paintings, “The Studio. One Half. 1984-7” and “Carl Larsson. Self-portrait. 1912.”
