Regency doll in light blue skirt, brown brace jacket, and bonnet trimmed in feathers and ribbon roses

A Gentleman Caller. The female doll was made by Beverly Dahl in March 1995. She has a tag naming her Josephine that indicates she is number one in a series from Dahl House of Miniatures. The gentleman is unmarked, but I would guess that he is a matched pair with Josephine. The gold brooch at Josephine’s neck is not a brooch, but a piece of gold foil that I tucked into her neck because her head joint is loose after so many years. The house is a family heirloom and the items are not for sale.

My father, who battled cancer for two decades, gifted my mother with a trip to the Chicago miniature show in approximately 1995 as a thank you for many years of support. He gave her a wad of cash and told her to go on a shopping spree. She came home with a cache of period dolls crafted by independent artisans.
