SAILORS AND TAILORS, PERIL AND PROVIDENCE

An historical fiction series set in eighteenth-century Denmark-Norway, with a nod to Norse folklore and a thread of romance.

Ten novels with temporary titles under construction. Low-stakes adventure, cozy fantasy, and no-spice romance.

A particular soldier in the Norwegian artillery inspired six years of research and a mostly fictional story world of ten novels. The stories are interconnected but can be read in any order.

All writing in my books is my own, with no AI generation.

I learned to write decades ago at Wellesley College, where I wept over paper essays covered in red ink, studied French, and met women with myriad world views. I have read widely on military and religious conflicts prior to 1750.

I will consider publication when all books have second drafts and the story world is set. The fictional characters dance in and out of each other’s stories and keep changing the plot. I might release the prequel as serial fiction on an affordable global platform in 2027.

The old man lifted the watch in his gnarled hands, reverently pressing the crown until the case popped open. “Retournez,” he whispered.
