Upper Gallery

The upper gallery and lower receiving rooms of the 1810 French chateau, with a connecting curved staircase.

The boy in the silk suit is Bonnie Sanford porcelain and dressed by Marlys Sellers.

I think the pink flower bouquet is Beverly Dahl.

Grand Foyer – A Gentleman Caller

The female doll was made by Beverly Dahl in March 1995. She has a tag naming her Josephine that indicates she is number one in a series from Dahl House of Miniatures. The gentleman is named “John” and is also by Beverly Dahl.  I would guess that he was made as  a matched pair with Josephine. The gold brooch at Josephine’s neck is not a brooch, but a piece of gold foil that I tucked into her neck because her head joint is loose after so many years.

My father, who battled cancer for two decades, gifted my mother with a trip to the Chicago miniature show as a thank you for many years of support. He gave her a wad of cash and told her to go on a shopping spree. She came home with a cache of period dolls crafted by independent artisans.
