Trim Work in a 1:12 Scale Interpretation of the Carl Larsson House

This house was featured in a holiday display at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis in the early nineties. Made from an affordable rectangular house, effort was placed on the interiors and the design rather than the expense of duplicating Carl Larsson’s house exactly. A simple rectangle with doors that open wide makes for better museum viewing, as the house was displayed both at ASI and the Jacques Gallery in Minnesota. Plexiglass covered the opening and the working interior lights were lit during the display.

The windows feature the familiar arched wooden panes found in the Carl Larsson house and the complementary colors of green and red on the window trim. The shelf above the window mirrors the library shelves found in Carl’s room. The books do not have pages, but are cover wraps on small blocks of wood.

The house shell is by . My mother did all the trim work and tiled the roof herself.
