Tiled stoves were invented in in the mid-eighteenth century in Sweden. My mother painted the white tiled stove herself. The green tiled stove is hallmarked “NF.”

The American Swedish Institute has marvelous examples of Swedish tiled stoves in the Turnblad Mansion.
