I set stories among those who followed the drum in the eighteenth century. A particular soldier in the Norwegian artillery inspired four years of research and a mostly fictional world of nine novels. I will pursue publication when five books are finished.

I descend from tailors in Norway and knights in Sweden, and I share my fascination for eighteenth century Scandinavia on my blog, with a focus on the Great Northern War and the writings of Sami specialist Just Knud Qvigstad.
